1. Click on the Cell Where You Want the Degree Symbol

In our example, we have a dataset that includes daily temperature readings for various cities from cell A2 to A8, each paired with their temperatures in Celsius in cells C2 to B8 and in Fahrenheit in cells D2 to C8. 

Click on the cell where you want to insert the degree symbol. Make sure the cursor is positioned at the exact point in the cell where you want the symbol to appear. For our example, we will click on a cell C2 where we want to add the degree symbol. 

2. Open the Symbol Menu from the Insert Tab

Navigate to the ‘Insert’ tab on the menu bar and click on ‘Symbol’ to open the symbol dialog box, which contains various characters and symbols. 

3. Locate and Insert the Degree Symbol in the Dialog Box

In the ‘Symbol’ dialog box, set the ‘Font’ to ‘(normal text)’ and find the degree symbol (°) by scrolling or by typing ’00B0‘ in the ‘Character code’ box to locate it quickly. 

Select the symbol and click ‘Insert’ to add it to your spreadsheet. 

4. Close the Symbol Dialog Box After Insertion

After inserting the degree symbol, click ‘Close’ on the Symbol dialog box. 

We will now see that our selected temperature value in the spreadsheet includes the degree symbol, accurately reflecting temperature measurements.
