Method 1: Using Copy and Paste

Here’s how to duplicate rows in Excel using the copy and paste method:

1. Select the Row You Want to Duplicate

Click on the number to the left of the row you wish to duplicate. This highlights the entire row. For example, if you want to duplicate row 5, click on the number ‘5’ on the left.

2. Copy the Row

Right-click on the highlighted row and choose ‘Copy’ from the context menu, or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+C (Cmd+C on Mac).

3. Choose Where to Place the Duplicate

Right-click on the row number where you want the new row to appear. If you want it directly below the original, right-click on the number of the following row.

4. Insert Copied Cells

Choose ‘Insert Copied Cells’ from the context menu that appears. This inserts the copied row directly above the row where you right-clicked.

Follow the steps below to duplicate rows in Excel using the Fill handle.

1. Select the Row to Duplicate

Click on the letter at the top of the row you want to duplicate to highlight the entire row.

Move your cursor to the bottom right corner of the highlighted row until it turns into a small plus sign (+). Click and drag downward to the row below where you want the duplicate to appear. Release the mouse to place a copy of the row.

1. Select the Target Row

Click on the top cell of the empty row where you want to create a duplicate. In our example, we will select A10.

2. Enter Formulas to Duplicate the Row

Click on the first cell in the new row and type =A5 if you are duplicating row 5, for example. Press Enter.

3. Drag the Fill Handle

Drag the fill handle at the bottom right corner of the cell horizontally across the row to duplicate all cells from the original row.
